KwFIU Delegation Participates in FATF Meetings in Paris to Strengthen International Cooperation and Compliance with Global Standards

A delegation from the Kuwait Financial Intelligence Unit (KwFIU), headed by Dr. Hamad Al-Mekrad and accompanied by his team, participated in the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) meetings held in Paris, France, from 15 to 19 June 2026, alongside a number of related meetings and engagements.
This participation reflects the KwFIU’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation and enhancing the exchange of expertise and best practices in combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing. It also supports national efforts and reinforces compliance with the international standards and recommendations issued by the FATF.
During the meetings, participants discussed a range of topics and issues of mutual interest, while reviewing the latest developments in international policies and standards. These discussions contribute to strengthening the effectiveness of national frameworks for combating money laundering and terrorist financing, as well as enhancing cooperation and coordination with international partners.
The KwFIU’s participation underscores Kuwait’s continued commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the global financial system and promoting effective collaboration in addressing financial crimes.
