Kuwait Participates in the 42nd Plenary Meeting of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force in Rabat

The State of Kuwait participated in the 42nd Plenary Meeting of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF), held in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, from 11 to 13 May 2026, with a delegation headed by Dr. Hamad Al-Mukrad, Chairman of the Kuwait Financial Intelligence Unit and Chairman of the National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing.
During the meeting, Kuwait’s Enhanced Follow-Up Report was discussed, resulting in an upgrade to the country’s technical compliance ratings for a number of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Recommendations, reflecting Kuwait’s continued progress in strengthening its national anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing framework.
The meeting also addressed developments in legislative and supervisory frameworks, as well as ways to enhance cooperation among member states to address emerging risks and challenges.
In support of national efforts and to strengthen international cooperation, the Kuwait Financial Intelligence Unit signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the National Financial Intelligence Authority of the Kingdom of Morocco.
The State of Kuwait reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to supporting regional and international efforts aimed at enhancing financial integrity and protecting economic systems from financial crimes.
