Statement by the president of the Kuwait Financial Intelligence Unit and president of the National Committee for AML & CFT regarding the reporting of suspicious transactions by entities subject to the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Dr. Hamad Al-Makrad, president of the Kuwait Financial Intelligence Unit and president of the National Committee for AML & and CFT, stated that the Unit has been making efforts to develop and enhance the efficiency of the electronic reporting and notification mechanism for suspicious transactions through the goAML system, affirming the continued receipt of reports from entities subject to supervision via the approved electronic system.
As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the compliance and supervisory framework, the Kuwait Financial Intelligence Unit organized 57 workshops targeting compliance officers in companies and institutions operating in the gold, precious metals and gemstones sector, in addition to the real estate brokerage sector, during the period from 19/04/2026 to 13/05/2026, in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The workshops aimed to raise efficiency levels and enhance awareness among compliance officers by providing them with practical knowledge and skills related to mechanisms for reporting suspicious financial transactions. Dedicated channels were also allocated to respond to inquiries, whether through virtual meetings or via a designated email address. In addition, the period from 11/05/2026 to 21/05/2026 was allocated for technical support and follow-up on technical observations related to the use of the system, contributing to supporting compliance with regulatory requirements for supervised sectors and strengthening efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing in accordance with international best practices and standards.
